SR-22 Insurance
SR22 Insurance is commonly mistaken as a type of car insurance, while in fact, it is simply a certificate that states a guarantee by the motorists auto insurance company that the driver maintains the legally required coverage to the department of motor vehicles (dmv).
The SR22 insurance is usually required in most states after a serious offense such as DUI, vehicular assault or other serious violations involving negligence or severe endangerment of other drivers or pedestrians that the court, resulting in the court deeming the driver, high risk.
The Dept of motor vehicles may require an SR22 from a driver in order to reinstate his or her driving privileges following an uninsured car accident or conviction of another traffic-related offense including but not limited to the following:
- Serious Traffic Violations
- Driving Without Insurance
- Multiple Traffic Tickets
- Suspended or Revoked License
