Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and what you can do about it.

Last updated

InsuranceXR.com is an independent marketing and referral service. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.

We have tried to write it in plain language. Where a term has a specific legal meaning, we say so.

What we collect

Information you give us. If you submit a form, we collect what you type into it — typically your name, email address, phone number, ZIP code, the type of coverage you are asking about, and whatever you write in the message. On the opt-out form, we collect only the contact details needed to identify and suppress you.

Information collected automatically. When you visit, we and our analytics providers may collect your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how you arrived, and how you interact with the site.

Advertising identifiers. If you arrive from an advertisement, the URL carries a click identifier — for example a Google gclid, a Microsoft msclkid or a Meta fbclid. We store this in a first-party cookie so we can tell which advertising produced which inquiry. It does not identify you by name.

Call information. If you call a number on this site, the call is routed by our call-tracking provider, which records the number you dialed, the number you called from, the time, and the duration. The licensed agent who answers may separately record the call — they will tell you if so.

What we do not collect

We do not ask for and do not want your Social Security number, driver's license number, date of birth, medical history, or financial account details. If a form on this site ever asks you for any of those, it is not ours — close it and email us.

We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Why we use it

  • To connect you with a licensed insurance agent when you ask us to
  • To respond to inquiries you send us
  • To process and honor opt-out requests
  • To measure which advertising and which pages produce useful inquiries
  • To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
  • To meet our legal obligations, including keeping records of consent

Who we share it with

Licensed insurance agents and companies. If you ask to be connected or consent to contact, we share what you provided with the agents and insurers in our partner network so they can respond. They become independently responsible for that information and handle it under their own privacy policies.

Service providers. Companies that run infrastructure on our behalf — hosting, call routing, analytics, spam prevention. They may use the data only to provide that service to us.

Legal. Where required by law, subpoena, or to protect rights and safety.

Business transfer. If the business is sold or merged, information may transfer as part of it. You will be told if the way your data is handled changes materially.

We do not sell your information to data brokers, and we do not share it with anyone who is not part of connecting you with a licensed agent or running this site.

Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for:

  • Attribution. A first-party cookie recording how you arrived, so we can measure advertising. Ninety days.
  • Analytics. Understanding which pages help people and which do not.
  • Advertising measurement. Reporting conversions to advertising platforms.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Doing so does not stop you using the site.

Delivery buffer. If our systems are unreachable when you submit a form, your submission is held in your own browser's storage for up to seven days and sent when you next visit the site. It is not sent anywhere else, and clearing your site data clears it. If your browser will not store it — a private window, or site data blocked — we tell you the submission failed rather than reporting success.

Analytics storage. Our product analytics stores an identifier in your browser's local storage as well as in a cookie, so the same browser is recognised across visits.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we have collected and how it has been used and shared
  • Request a copy of it
  • Request that it be corrected or deleted
  • Opt out of "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined in state law
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights

California residents have these rights under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. Residents of other states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and others — have similar rights under their own statutes.

To exercise any of them, email [email protected] with the request and enough detail to identify you. We will respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need longer. You may use an authorized agent.

Do not sell or share my personal information. Passing your details to a licensed agent at your request may qualify as "sharing" under some state laws. To opt out entirely, use our opt-out form or email us.

How long we keep it

Inquiry records: as long as needed to respond and to keep the records the law requires, generally not more than three years.

Opt-out records: indefinitely. This is deliberate — we cannot honor a suppression request we have deleted, so a do-not-call record is the one thing we keep permanently.

Analytics data: as configured in our analytics tools, generally 12 to 24 months.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information we hold, including encryption in transit, access controls, and separation of the systems that receive submissions from the systems that display them.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes

We will post any changes here and update the date at the top. Material changes to how we use information you have already given us will be notified more directly where we are able to.
